Where: First United Methodist Church in Mountain View

This is an after school program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.  It’s a great time for kids to play with their friends, enjoy a great snack, play games, do craft activities and learn to be better friends with each other, their community and God in a safe and fun environment. Children at the Mt. View School can ride bus #30 to the church after school with a note to the school from their parents. This program is open to all children k-6th throughout Stone County, designed to provide a safe, fun and learning environment for children and to help our working parents. They offer adult, children, tee, and baby clothing to those in the community who might be in need. Depending on the amount of clothes we have at one time each family/individual can take home one outfit a month. We mainly caring clothing, but we also have toys and some household items. We run off donations so what we have depends on what comes in. We accept clothing, household items, some furniture, and shoes so we asked that all those that have clothing to get rid of that they consider us.

The free rally is for anyone who is or has been affected by drugs and alcohol and will offer a variety of bands and music groups, testimonies and free hamburgers and hot dogs. Dennis Markum now more than two years sober, wants to make sure other addicts can find their way out of addiction by bringing together available treatments, support groups, recovered addicts and families at a Recovery Rally.

Whether you are new to knitting or need a refresher, this class is for you. You will begin with an overview of knitting terms, abbreviations and resources, learn basics of long-tail cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch and how to cast off, how t increase and decrease; and read simple patterns. By the ends of this class, you will be able to knit a simple scarf, cowl (neck warmer) or afghan. Bring one skein of knitting worsted-weight yarn in a color that is neither too dark nor too bright. Knitting needles will be provided. Lisa Krause, instructor. Supply fee is $7, payable to instructor on first night of class, and there is a $25 cost for class.

Dutch oven class you will cook over a fire using both traditional and modern recipes. Learn to make farmer’s cheese, kefir, cottage cheese and yogurt in the Farmstead Cheese making class. In this class you’ll learn how I make quick and basic cheeses in my modern farm kitchen; they will use herbs from the garden fresh goat’s milk and store bought cow’s milk to make yummy grilling, slicing and fried cheese. Meet your instructor and pick up your packet in the Administration Building lobby. You’ll be cooking outside over fire or with boiling liquid, so wear appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Our goal is to provide a family friendly event for kids of all ages. Booths and cars are welcome but must reserve a spot before October 20th. Designed for couples as well as individuals, this two-hour class will teach effective physical techniques, both empty-handed and best weapons use, along with maximizing current technologies to protect yourself and your loved ones. We accept clothing, household items, some furniture, and shoes so we asked that all those that have clothing to get rid of that they consider us.

Dicover the power and flexibility of designing and creating in Photoshop. Instructor Jim Krause, do-owner of Deux Bijoux Bijoux of Evening Shade, will teach students in this 5- session hands-on class Photoshop terminology and how to use the workspace, panels, brushes, selection tools and filters. Wil Maring will be the performer and will be joined by guitarist Robert Bowlin for both sets. Matinee is $12 daily admission fee to the Ozark Folk Center  and the Evening Concert tickets are $12 general admission seats and can be purchased the day of the show . Combination tickets for each day are also available for $19.50 and include admission to the matinee and evening show.

Where: UACCB Fine Arts Bldg. 603

Julie Gosser, owner of Julie’s Piece of Cake, will teach Cake Decorating course 2. This class will focus on flowers and cake design. You will learn how to make fondant and gum paste flowers, a ruffle petal and a rose petal. You will use royal butter cream icing to make designs on the cake and also make designs off the cake. Deadline to register is Oct 12. A book and kit is included in the supply fee. Supply fee is $90, payable to the instructor on first night of class. There is a $40 cost for the class. This class takes you beyond the basic knit and purl stitches. Lisa Krause will teach you how to increase and decrease; Fix basic mistakes, do the cable and more advanced stitches, and read more complex patterns. You will learn about different types of needles, yarns and fibers, and finishing techniques. Bring one skein of knitting worsted weight yarn in a color that is neither too dark nor too bright. Knitting needles will be provided. Supply fee is $7 payable to instructor on first night of class and a class fee of $25.
