The Batesville Optimist Club will once again be sponsoring their annual Essay Contest. This year’s topic is “Lead By Example, Reality of Fiction”. Dan Nash teaches a condensed version of the general two day wilderness first aid class that is centered around the most common injuries and medical issues that may arise while in the wilderness. Unlike many other wilderness first aid classes, Dan takes this class a step further in providing practical exercises that not only cover the diagnosing and treating of patients but also the evacuation if necessary. Students will need to bring their first aid kit, along with other items that they would normally take with them on a day tip, such as trekking poles, rain gear, survival kit, water, extra clothing, etc. The class will be 8 hours in length and consist of 5 hours of classroom and 3 hours of practical exercises.
